The Good Neighbors Project, Inc. is a 501(3)c company that exists for the purpose of enhancing the lives of elderly residents in rural nursing homes.
The elderly in general, and nursing home residents in particular, are at increased risk for isolation and depression. Within our lifetimes, some of us will experience poverty, unemployment, or chronic illness-- but only some of us. On the other hand, every single one of us, who lives long enough, will be old.
Good Neighbors volunteers work together with non-profit facilities and the community in which they are located to provide experiences that increase feelings of well-being and improve quality of life by facilitating a sense of belonging in the greater community.
What matters, therefore, is not the meaning of life in general, but rather the specific meaning of a person's life at a given moment.
